Within our modern, fully equipped workshops we manufacture a range of high-class bespoke joinery items such as counters, workstations, kitchens, screens, doors and frames. Product finishing of all kinds is undertaken in house in the company’s spray booth, whether we are adding colour to modern funky shelving or lacquering a traditional oak unit.
We have recently installed a new, innovative heating system that is fuelled by all kinds of timber including MDF. The new woodburning stove not only recycles all of our waste materials to heat our workshop, but also eliminates the need to contribute to landfill. We also help our suppliers to meet their recycling commitments too.
Similarly we have worked hard to develop a trusted supply chain that matches our own ethical and environmental values. We ensure that all timber products that come into our workshop are from sustainable sources.
We have a Team of very experienced and skilled craftsmen working here at Hanson Contracts. Most of our Team have been with us since they started in the industry. As you can imagine, in that time they have amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of shop and office fitting. Our operatives do us proud every day with their resourcefulness, capability and ability to adapt on every project they undertake.
Our operatives are all safety trained and accredited with CSCS cards. We expect people to stay ‘on top of their game’ so we ensure they attend regular training sessions on site safety, first aid, manual handling, COSHH, PASMA & IPAF. In fact we operate a Training Action Plan through the CITB that maps out the training for the year ahead.
Fit out and shopfitting manufacture and installation takes real skill. Not only so that everything is perfectly fixed, fitted and finished but also so that your project is completed on time, to budget and most importantly safely. Our Team makes sure that happens.
Andrew has learnt his trade from the shop floor. Starting as a joinery apprentice with Foottit and Whatley he soon gained City and Guilds qualifications in Advanced Carpentry and Joinery.
After serving seven years as a site joiner he made the move into a more administrative role as an estimator for the company. Keen to experience all aspects of the industry, over the next five years he went on to the role of Contracts Manager and Workshop Manager.
In 1994 he became Managing Director of Hanson Contracts, taking on the practical running of the company, while his brother Simon assumed the administrative side.
He continues to develop his training notably his Site Safety Management, CDM and First Aid qualifications.
In his spare time Andrew currently coaches under 12’s football at Brusmeer Athletic (www.brunsmeer.co.uk) although he has his sights set on the Premiership.
Simon’s background is largely academic, culminating with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree from Liverpool University. His final year dissertation was a Cost Evaluation of Plant Sales at the university’s botanical gardens, so it was no surprise that In 1994 Simon made the move into the commercial world and become Director and Company Secretary of Hanson Contracts, assuming the administrative side of the business while his brother Andrew took on the practical management.
Simon maintains his qualifications as a Trained First Aider for the company.
To keep the middle age spread at bay he enjoys mountain biking, swimming and competitive running. This year all three have been combined into two gruelling hours as he has begun his first triathlon season.

When you meet one of the Hanson Contracts Team on site for an initial consultation, nine times out of ten it will be Paul. You can be assured that he knows his stuff as he carries a wealth of experience from a lifetime in the construction industry.
Paul joined us in November 2008 from a background in the house building industry where he supervised a wide range of builds from apartment blocks to specialist timber framed buildings. Paul's working life began as an apprentice joiner so it's no wonder he's made the transition to shopfitting look easy and has quickly become a very valued member of the Team.
Paul holds a CSCS card and has risk assessments and first aid training.
Pauls says his main interest is table tennis. In his youth he played for his county but that was a long time ago…............
Claire is the newest member of the Hanson Contracts Team and joins us from a diverse background in Administration and Customer Service. Most recently, Claire has worked in the charity sector, developing and undertaking dual roles: implementing new administration systems and acting as Company Secretary.
Claire holds Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in English Language and Literature and is still an avid reader of a variety of fiction (but not Chick Lit).
In addition, Claire loves to take to the moors and hills in her spare time, seeing the beauty of South Yorkshire on foot. She is also a very keen cook and loves to entertain (watch out Come Dine With Me...........!)
